Because TripJax Asked

1. What is the biggest mistake people make at a NL table?

Not making a proper turn bet. Drawers will often call on the flop, thinking they will be able to reassess on the turn. Don't let them see the river cheaply if there are cards out there that wil beat you.

2. What is the biggest mistake people make at a Limit table?

(Assuming proper banroll) Poor starting hand selection. Playing suited connectors such as 78d at a tight table, or not playing the same hand at a loose table. At the levels I play limit, proper hand selection should be enough to win.

3. Why do you play poker?

I like to play almost as much as I have liked to do anything in my life. I love the competition, the thought required, the (usual) reward for out thinking an opponent. Also, I have developed a bit of a gambling habit over the last three years. I guess genectics finally won out.

4. If you weren't playing poker, what would you be doing?

Watching too much TV. I would want to be writing and playing an instrument but I probably wouldn't be.

5. What is your favorite poker book and why?

I liked the Gary Carson book as I found it easy to read and informative as a new player. The Harrington books are a must read and opened my eyes to the agression needed in MTTs. One of the best (I think it is but I am still trying to understand what is says) is Yao King's book on the math of limit HE.

6. Who is your favorite poker player and why?

The G-Vegas crowd, DoubleAs, OnTHG, Joe Speaker. I have learned a lot from watching these guys play, either in person or online.

7. Which poker player do you dislike the most and why?

Anybody who taps the glass.

8. Do your coworkers know about your blog?

Yes.

9. What is the most you have won in a cash game or MTT (both live and online)?

See post below for biggest MTT win. The Final Four package I won on Titan had a listed value of $2600 but the hotel wasn't nice enough to warrant that price tag.

In live games, $1630.

10. What is the most you have lost in a cash game or in one day total (both live and online)?

Cash game, $800. Online, probably about $400.

11. Who was your first poker blog read?

Al Can't Hang.

12. What satisfies you more, your aces holding up for a big pot or a bluff working for a big pot?

Bluffing. I do it much less than I should. Aces typically hold up so I get no special satisfaction if they do so yet again.

13. Why do you blog?

Wanted to meet like minded people with whom it appeared I had a lot in common. It is an excuse to write more. Oh yeah, ego.

14. Do you read blogs from an RSS reader like bloglines or do you visit each blog?

I visit each and every one personally.

15. Would you rather play poker for a living than do what you currently do for a living?

I'd rather heard yaks in outer Mongolia than what I do for a living, so yeah.

16. Do you wear a tin foil hat on occasion?

No, but you should. They are out to get you.

17. If you had to pin it down to one specific trait, what does a great poker player have (or do) that separates them from an average player?

Ability to separate emotion from the size of the bet.

18. Is Drizz the coolest person on the planet for naming his baby Vegas?

No, but his Wife may be.

19. What is your primary poker goal and are you close to accomplishing it?

Play big entry tournaments. And no.

20. What is your primary online site and why?

True Poker right now. I like the NL games and the MTTs with 30-150 players as it allows me to play MTTs every night without having to stay up late into the a.m.

21. What site do you dislike and why?

The ones at which I am running poorly.
