2006 WSOP

The proposal:

$100 buy-in NLHE tournament.
Assuming participation of at least 100 bloggers, the winner gets an entry into the main event at the 2006 WSOP. Places 2-11 each get 5% of the winner.

Either that or we just give our money to CJ.

Edited 12-19-05

There seems to be some concern about getting 100 bloggers to pay $100. We would need to give plenty of notice to accomplish this. From my end, I am willing to pay more if we can not get the full 100. I have (semi-seriously) considered a ten person qualifier where every player would get 5% of the winner. It would be a fun idea for any home gamers who have the ability (*cough* G-Vegas *cough*) to put up that kind of money.

I also have often considered the TripJax method of multiple tournaments that would set aside a portion of the buy-in to create a pool that would eventually send the overall winner the WSOP. I would fully support such a plan as I would not want any blogger not to play due to a high entry fee. I have not been able to formulate such a multi-tourney plan that makes a whole lot of sense for online players but I am sure someone else could ( and may have already with TripJax efforts).

In short, I am willing to participate in almost any endeavor that gives me a chance to qalifiy for the WSOP Main Event knowing that I will most likely know the winner, if not personally, at least by reading thier blog.

As for the smaller events, I would like to see qualifiers for those start soon so we can send a boat load of bloggers to the WSOP. Fifty players at $30 sends one of us to an event. I'd play one of these a week at least. I'll even play some for O8 so Drizz, BoobieLover, and Sir can show their stuff.

Thanks for everyone's response.

excellent idea. i doubt we could get 100 at $100 tho. we'd prolly have to run a few tourneys to get the dough. and then - there's always the $1500 event...

feel free to email me on this. i'm definitely gonna do something in this vein.

Can I just buy a piece of CJ?

I'm in.

buying a piece of CJ doesn't ALWAYS work. where was my luckbox in the 500K at stars last night?

BP,
Take a look at my latest post and let me know what you think. It may need some retooling, but it is just a thought...

I'm interested in any and all qualifiers. They are all good ideas.

I personally think that the number of people at the WSOP is again going to be exponential if ONLY for huge increase in online qualifiers/tourneys.

I'd play just about any of your suggestions (except the 1 table) if the time works for me. I like the idea of getting some of the smaller $1,500 buy in sats going.

I'll donate my hardly earned cash game winnings to tourney specialists :)

I could run one or two of the big ones, and certainly a few of the smaller/feeder ones.

I'm in. I think a few 10+1 qualifiers leading up to the bigger tourney is a good idea.

An intriguing idea. I'd be interested to see what you are able to come up with.
